NOT QUITE

The media can't stop attacking the woman who was almost first lady. Michelle Cottle has a suggestion for her fellow pundits: cut Ann some slack.

POISONOUS

Schools have been canceled for the week, and seven official days of mourning were declared after Hugo Chávez died Tuesday. Michael Moynihan does not mourn the passing of this autocratic showman—and says his mad dreams will likely die with him.

MARCH MADNESS

After slamming the Midwest with about 10 inches of snow Tuesday night, forcing schools in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois to close, derailing more than 1,100 flights out of Chicago, and causing at least one fatal interstate accident, the March storm is making its way to Washington, D.C. Federal government offices will be closed Wednesday, and district residents are preparing for power outages, major traffic jams, and other such inconveniences. Hundreds of flights out of Washington's Dulles and Reagan National airports have already been canceled in anticipation of the storm.

NECK AND NECK

It looks like they're headed for a runoff. City Councilman Eric Garcetti and Controller Wendy Greuel are the two top candidates in the Los Angeles mayoral race, but neither captured enough votes in Tuesday's election to be declared a winner. The two had long been favored as the frontrunners and, because of their similar stances on most issues, became hard to differentiate from one another. Not only is L.A. in store for a new mayor, but a city attorney, controller, and 15 new city council members will be chosen in this election—bringing in the biggest political changes to the city in almost 10 years.

WOMEN IN THE WORLD
