| Today: Joe Muto, 'the Fox Mole,' on His New Book, 'An Atheist in the FOXhole' , Mandela Still in Serious Condition , Zimmerman Trial to Begin | | | | | | June 10, 2013 | | O'REILLY DOES WHAT? He's doing community service for leaking about his employer. But Joe Muto is still back with a new book full of more tidbits about the network, from who O'Reilly hates to how people really feel about Megyn Kelly. Plus, how the network's female talent has just gotten foxier. NO CHANGE Nelson Mandela remained in "stable, but serious" condition on Monday after spending the weekend in a Pretoria hospital for a lung infection. Mandela, 94, has been hospitalized three times this year. Spokesman Mac Maharaj denied reports that visitors are being blocked from access to Mandela, saying that he is subject to "normal procedures" of a patient in intensive care. Mandela's daughter, Zindzi, said Sunday that her father is a "fighter" and is "well." JUSTICE It's like the Casey Anthony trial all over again. Jury selection for George Zimmerman's trial for second-degree murder is set to begin Monday, more than one year after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, claims he acted in self-defense when he killed Martin, an unarmed black 17-year-old who Zimmerman says was "up to no good" when he stopped him. Zimmerman's trial is expected to last four to six weeks, although the defense was handed a setback last week when a judge ruled that Martin's texts, school records, and possible marijuana use could not be brought up at trial. Meanwhile, protesters gathered outside Seminole County Courthouse in Sanford, Florida, on the eve of Zimmerman's trial, including a group called the Revolutionary Communist Party. UNDERWATER More than 20,000 people were evacuated from their homes in Germany and Hungary on Monday after a dam burst on the River Elbe in Magdeburg this weekend. Although water levels appeared to be receding in Magdeburg on Monday, the situation is still considered dire enough that people can't return to their homes. Around 700 soldiers worked to build a dam of sandbags around the power substation in the district of Rothensee. Meanwhile, 1,800 people were evacuated in Hungary, although the flood defenses in Budapest appeared to have held steady. In Warsaw, the main roadway was underwater and firefighters helped stranded motorists to safety. Eighteen people have died so far in the floods in Central Europe. | |
