Doping Will he apologize to Sheryl Crow next? Cyclist Lance Armstrong reportedly apologized to the staff of his charity, Livestrong, on Monday ahead of the airing of a highly publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey. Armstrong also reportedly called members of the cycling community to apologize for allegedly lying and misleading them. On Sunday, Armstrong told the Associated Press, "I’m calm, I’m at ease, and I’m ready to speak candidly." If he admits—even partially—to doping, it will be a marked difference from his prior defiant stance. Armstrong will sit with Winfrey on Monday night; the interview will air on OWN on Thursday. REVENGE Islamist forces in northern Mali vowed on Monday to retaliate for France’s military campaign against them. The leader of the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa, an al Qaeda offshoot, said, “France has attacked Islam. We will strike at the heart of France.” France launched the offensive alongside the Malian Army on Friday to stop the Islamist insurgents who had threatened to advance on the capital of Bamako. A town in central Mali, however, had fallen as of Monday morning. The offensive killed 60 Islamists in the city of Gao alone on Sunday. Foul Play? A year after the LAPD reopened the 1981 drowning case of Natalie Wood, a new autopsy report suggests the late actress may have been assaulted before she plunged into the Pacific Ocean. The coroner has amended Wood’s cause of death from accidental drowning to “drowning and other undetermined factors,” detailing bruises on her body that “appeared fresh” along with scratches down her legs. It remains unclear whether the abrasions resulted from falling off the dinghy, attempting to climb back on, or something potentially darker. There were also conflicting statements as to when Wood went missing and whether or not she had a confrontation with her husband, Robert Wagner.
