Islamist supporters of Egypt's Mohammed Morsi have rallied in support of the under-fire president. The demonstration comes one day after the mass protests against the country's newly drafted constitutional charter.

M23 rebel fighters have pulled out of the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo city of Goma, ten days after its capture. The move boosts hopes that regional peace efforts could lead to an end to fighting.

North Korea has announced plans for a rocket test under the guise of a satellite launch. The plan was condemned by the international community as provocative, amid fears there are less-peaceful intentions.

Kuwaitis head to polls amid opposition boycott
Voters in Kuwait are going to the polls in parliamentary elections. The previous one saw opposition parties win a majority - but a court annulled the results. This time the opposition are calling for a boycott.

Mexico's new president has taken office, promising to put drug violence at the top of his agenda. Enrique Pena Nieto's inauguration marks the return to power of the country's long-standing party of government.
