Jonathan Rhys Meyers BANNED From United Airlines Flights

Being banned from United, well one can certainly come up with other equally torturous things - like being banned from McDonalds, from the Hospital, or from the line outside the BestBuy at 3 a.m. on Black Friday. I'm sure he will just take his Black Amex Card and spend his big movie bucks with American or Delta (that's all fine till we end-up with one mega, Aeroflot-style airline!).

BTW - kudos to the Huffington Post folks for including a picture of the actor with a Grey Goose bottle over his shoulder - nice, ironic touch for a story like this!

College For All? Experts Say Not Necessarily

Bad news for those of us who draw our paychecks in higher education. But, it is simply a matter of not being in tune with changing market realities. If you can deliver a product - in this case a student who graduates with a degree - and skills and knowledge - that are in demand, he or she will be successfully. Too much emphasis on what's going on inside the walls of the institution and not enough attention to the changing marketplace - of ideas and of economics - have brought us to this point. All the talk about 3-year degree programs today is just a band-aid approach to handling the bigger issues involved.

Gulf Oil Spill: The Impact on the Commercial Fishing Industry in Louisiana

Here's a local New Orleans news story (WWL-TV) reporting on the impact of the BP oil spill on independent commercial fishermen in the coastal parishes of Louisiana. As you will see, there's a growing frustration with the situation:



What you don't see is that our local airwaves (and yes, our Google Ads on the Web) are all about law firms recruiting fishermen and others impacted by the oil spill to file suits against BP and TransOcean.

Let's hope for the best for all - and for these hard working folks in particular. If they don't survive this economically - with help forthcoming soon - this will likely be pretty much the end of the Louisiana seafood industry.
