While the White House is scrambling to respond to reports of misconduct at several Veterans Affairs hospitals, the scandal has spread even further. Jacob Siegel reports on new whistleblower testimony and internal documents that say employees of an award-winning VA hospital in Texas cooked the books to get bonuses—and the wrongdoing happened in view of investigators.

Looks like we're still trying to figure out who, exactly, Edward Snowden is. In an interview with Brian Williams that will air Wednesday, Snowden revealed that he wasn't just the lowly systems administrator he has been portrayed as. "I was trained as a spy in sort of the traditional sense of the word, in that I lived and worked undercover overseas—pretending to work in a job that I'm not—and even being assigned a name that was not mine," he said, noting that he was even a lecturer in a counterintelligence academy for the Defense Intelligence Agency. Intelligence sources told NBC that Snowden was working overseas in IT and communications for the CIA.

RALLY

A crowd of thousands filled the stadium on Tuesday at UC Santa Barbara to pay tribute to the six students killed in a bloody rampage on Friday, chanting "Not one more!" along with the father of one of the slain victims. Richard Martinez, whose son Christopher Michaels-Martinez was killed, called for an end to gun violence, saying, "Too many people have died and there should be not one more. How many more people are going to have to die in this situation before the problem gets solved?" Immediately after his speech, thousands of tweets using the hashtag #NotOneMore exploded across Twitter. Classes were canceled on Tuesday and students were offered counseling.

Well, Donald Sterling has replied to the NBA's efforts to terminate his ownership of the Clippers, and it's every bit as combative as you'd expect. In a 32-page letter sent to the league on Tuesday, Sterling wrote that it's "illegal" to force him to sell, and he plans to fight the charges. "A jealous rant to a lover never intended to be published cannot offend the NBA rules," it reads, arguing that the penalties are "draconian," and the proceedings a "sham." Sterling also claims that he has received offers to buy the Clippers for more than $2.5 billion. Sterling's wife, Shelly, is planning to file a response to the NBA that makes a case for why she should be allowed to maintain her ownership stake in the team.
