Cheat Sheet - Kerry: U.S. Taped Moscow’s Calls to Its Ukraine Spies

Cheat Sheet: Afternoon

April 29, 2014
CARELESS WHISPERS
Secretary of State John Kerry said he has proof Russia is managing a network of spies in Ukraine because the U.S. has been recording their phone conversations. Josh Rogin and Eli Lake report that Kerry revealed this information at the closed-door Trilateral Commission in Washington, along with details of Russia's intelligence efforts toward Ukrainian and Western leaders. "We know exactly who's giving those orders, we know where they are coming from," said Kerry.
OUCH

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million for racist remarks he made in a leaked phone message. Silver said the NBA interviewed Sterling and found the voice belonged to him. "The views expressed are deeply offensive and harmful, that they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my anger," Silver said. "Effective immediately I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers organization and the NBA."

MORNING HORROR

Six people were sent to the hospital following a shooting at a FedEx facility in Cobb County, Georgia, early Tuesday morning. A witness said the suspect walked into the FedEx with an assault rifle, knife, and bullets strapped across his chest "like Rambo." Police believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot. FedEx employee Randy Kitfield said "I looked down hallway and I see somebody run with a gun on the other side of the terminal. I thought, maybe it's the cops; I thought maybe a bomb scare or something."
