Documents posted Monday by The Smoking Gun claim that TV host and civil-rights activist Al Sharpton served as an FBI informant in the '80s and helped to bring down big-time mobsters like those in the Genovese crime family. Sharpton denies the accusation in an interview with Lloyd Grove. "If I brought down the Mob, I want my ticker tape parade."

Connecticut has won its second NCAA men's basketball title in four years, beating Kentucky 60-54 in the championship game Monday night. Shabazz Napier scored a game-high 22 points, and he is one of three UConn seniors who won the title back in 2011 as well. Whatever the outcome, it was guaranteed that the champion this year would be the lowest seed to win the title since eighth-seeded Villanova did in 1985, because UConn was seeded seventh and Kentucky, with five freshmen starters, was eighth, and never led in the game. The defeated Wildcats also missed 11 of 24 free throws, while the victorious Huskies were 10 for 10.

FAIR WEATHER FRIENDS
As tensions mount between Russia and the West, Washington's nightmare scenario is Moscow arming Tehran with sophisticated weapons, like a super-missile that can shoot down bombers. Eli Lake reports it's getting closer to happening.

President Obama has often criticized the gender pay gap, but it turns out he might be throwing stones while living in a glass house. A study from the American Enterprise Institute shows that female White House staffers make on average 88 cents for every dollar male staff members make. According to the top conservative think tank, the median annual salary for women at the White House was $65,000 while for men it was $73,729. Sounding a lot like the companies that have been criticized, press secretary Jay Carney blamed it on women filling lower-level positions: "Men and women in equivalent roles here earn equivalent salaries."

As the Ukrainian government worked to regain control of government buildings in Eastern Ukraine that were seized by pro-Russian protesters, the Kremlin warned that any use of force could cause a civil war. The Russian foreign ministry declared it was "calling for the immediate cessation of any military preparations, which could lead to civil war," and also claimed that "American experts from the private military organization Greystone," along with militants, have joined Ukraine forces to get ready for a crackdown. Pro-Russian protesters seized government buildings in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv on Sunday and raised Russian flags.
