SPOUSAL SUPPORT

Standing by her philandering husband, Anthony Weiner, for the second time on Tuesday, Huma Abedin joined an illustrious line of women who had to play the good wife before her. Take the quiz below and see if you can match the spouse to her post-scandal statement. Plus, Could Huma Be Pregnant?

Texas Hold 'Em

Not so fast, Texas. Attorney General Eric Holder announced on Thursday that the Justice Department would challenge Southern states, starting with Texas, that immediately moved to enact or enforce new restrictive voting laws after the Supreme Court overturned a key part of the Voting Rights Act last month. In a speech to the National Urban League in Philadelphia, Holder said that he planned to subject Texas, the first state to jump at the chance to impose new voter-ID and redistricting laws, to "preclearance" requirements. "Even as Congress considers updates to the Voting Rights Act in light of the court's ruling, we plan, in the meantime, to fully utilize the law's remaining sections to subject states to preclearance as necessary," Holder said. "My colleagues and I are determined to use every tool at our disposal to stand against such discrimination wherever it is found."

BABY GEORGE

William and Kate left Kensington Palace for her mom's, in an almost revolutionary statement of intent. Tom Sykes reports on why it's now clearer than ever that Kate calls the shots in this marriage.

SPAIN

Spain's transportation secretary said Thursday that a passenger train that derailed Wednesday was traveling too fast, giving credence to media reports that suggested it might have been moving at as much as twice the speed limit around a curve. The derailment, one of the worst in Spanish history, left 78 people dead and 140 injured. The train was arriving at Santiago de Compostela, ahead of a major Christian festival in the religious city. Passenger cars were toppled on their sides, and one was torn open.

Dropping

He just couldn't keep it up. Anthony Weiner had retained his lead in the New York city mayoral race after coming clean about his continued sexting with young women following his resignation from Congress, but a new poll from NBC and The Wall Street Journal shows his support has plummeted 14 percentage points. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn now leads with 25 percent of Democratic support compared with 16 percent for Weiner. It's the first poll conducted since the new revelations came to light. He also admitted today that there are as many as three women with whom he traded X-rated messages. Dropping out in 3... 2...
