President Obama urged solidarity with the grieving families in his weekly radio address on Saturday morning—but he stopped short of criticizing the nation's gun laws. In a more subdued speech than the one he gave Friday, when he tearfully referred to the victims as "our children," the president requested Americans to remind the town's families "that we are praying for them." The decision to stay quiet on gun control is not universal, with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg roundly criticizing the White House and Washington for not taking up the issue in the wake of the shooting. At least 27 people, including 20 children, were shot and killed by Adam Lanza at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Friday, before Lanza turned the gun on himself.
