Angelina Jolie told her kids—and you should too: Girls’ education is under threat in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and around the world. It’s time we all took a stand. Plus: Here’s how you can help. BUCKEYE STATE For battleground Ohio, the race has just begun. In a crucial decision, the Supreme Court announced Tuesday that it will side with the Democrats in refusing a Republican request to block early voting in the key election state. The Obama campaign and Ohio Democrats sued the state of Ohio over changes in the law that took away three days of voting the weekend before the election. Democrats say more than 100,000 people voted in the three days before the election in 2008. The vital 72-hour early voting window could mean the difference between Obama and Romney, in the state that many believe will determine the next president. OUT! Vikram Pandit led the giant bank through a crippling financial crisis. Today, he upped and quit. What the heck happened? The Daily Beast’s Daniel Gross and Matthew Zeitlin report. GOP(ARTY) FOUL In what appears to be a pit stop for Paul Ryan’s never-ending quest to find objects to lift and make his sublime biceps even bigger, the Republican vice-presidential candidate did some dishes in an Ohio soup kitchen last week. The only problem, according to the charity’s head, is that Ryan, his wife, and campaign staffers “ramrodded their way” in for a glorified photo op. It turns out Ryan stopped by the kitchen for only 15 minutes while on the way to the airport—the food had been served and the cleaning was complete. He still washed pans that reportedly weren’t dirty. While this may in fact be a good workout and please the hand sanitizer–using demographic, it’s not exactly great publicity for the Romney campaign. WHODUNNIT Now you see it, now you don’t. Works by Picasso, Monet, Gauguin, and Matisse are among the pieces stolen from a Rotterdam museum on Tuesday morning. Police say the Kunsthal museum was robbed at around 3 a.m. local time. It’s unclear how the thieves pulled it off, but investigators are reviewing videotapes of the theft. A spokesman for the Art Loss Register said, “Those thieves got one hell of a haul,” adding that the items would be worth “hundreds of millions of euros” if sold legally at an auction. However, if the thieves sell the art on the criminal market, they would get a much smaller amount.
