The world's dumbest lobby -- President Tone Deaf -- Al-Qaida's back -- Dave Matthews disappointed with Obama -- Poll of the Day: Americans kind of like Romney --Tweet of Yesterday | 1.) The world's dumbest lobby -- All things are political, even golf, reports TheDC's Alex Pappas:
"A coalition of golf lovers are asking Republicans to stop making so many jokes about President Barack Obama’s love for the golf course, saying such comments are bad for the golf industry. But could politics be at play too? The Daily Caller has learned that Tony Podesta, a well-known Democratic lobbyist with strong ties to the Obama White House, is behind the We Are Golf coalition of golfing organizations that has sent letters to Republicans such as Florida Sen. Marco Rubio asking them to cut out the criticism of Obama’s golfing habits."
This raises an important question: Why does "golf" have a lobby? | 2.) President Tone Deaf -- You might be surprised to find out what President Obama thinks is his biggest mistake. TheDC's Munro reports:
"President Barack Obama told an Hispanic audience today that his 'biggest mistake' was not passing a large-scale amnesty of illegal immigrants. The statement comes amid a continuing decline in the percentage of Americans who are working, and amid a rapid increase in government debt to $16 trillion. 'My biggest failure is that we haven’t got comprehensive immigration reform done … but it was not for lack of trying or desire,' Obama told his mostly Hispanic audience during the hour-long town hall meeting organized by the Spanish-language TV network, Univision."
Yes, of course. Who can't remember the great Obama immigration push, other than everyone? As for immigration being President Obama's greatest mistake, well, the millions of people who don't have jobs may disagree. | 3.) Al-Qaida's back -- TheDC's Jamie Weinstein reports on the possible al-Qaida connection to the consulate attack in Benghazi:
"Despite initial Obama administration assertions that the deadly attack on the American consulate in Benghazi was spontaneous and instigated by an almost entirely unknown YouTube video attacking the Muslim prophet Muhammad, there is increasing evidence that the attack was coordinated and linked to al-Qaida. In a video message released on Sept. 10, 2012 — the day before the attack on the consulate — al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri confirmed for the first time the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, a Libyan-born top al-Qaida member killed by an American drone strike in Pakistan in June. Zawahiri expressed hope in the video that with the 'martyrdom' of al-Libi, 'people will flock even more to his writings and call.' ... While the release of the video confirming the death of al-Libi and the attack on the Benghazi consulate may very well be unconnected, the Obama administration’s charge that the Benghazi attack was the spontaneous result of outrage over an anti-Islam film seems even less likely given recent evidence." | 4.) Dave Matthews disappointed with Obama -- But in Obama's defense, he seems to be a political idiot. Jessica Stanton reports for TheDC:
"Another celebrity has begun to turn sour on Obama: Dave Matthews ... Matthews, who played for the president at a Seattle fundraiser in May, also expressed an interest in creating a new government agency: the Department of Peace. 'I’ve always fantasized that it would be great if there was a Department of Peace,' Matthews continued. 'You know, we have a military, but what if there was a department devoted entirely and truthfully to finding peaceful resolutions?'"
Isn't that called the Department of State? Evidently Matthews thinks similarly to left-wing Democratic Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who has called for a Department of Peace. Which is to say, he is out of his mind. If the government created a Department of Peace, at least the geniuses involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement would have a place to apply for a job. | | 5.) Poll of the Day: Americans kind of like Romney -- AP-GfK poll of Mitt Romney's favorability: 48% of likely voters have a favorable opinion of Romney, 46% have a negative opinion, while 5% unsure. | | 6.)
