STOP BULLYING

As she teams up with her daughter to combat bullies, Lady Gaga’s mother talks to The Daily Beast’s Abigail Pesta about raising the eccentric pop star, and the tragic school shooting this week.

TWISTER

A storm ripped through the Midwest last night, spawning possible tornadoes that killed at least 11 people in Illinois and Missouri. In Kansas three people were seriously injured when what appears to have been a tornado touched down in the small town of Harveyville. Sixteen tornado sightings were reported between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning across the region, according to the U.S. Storm Prediction Center. The popular tourist city of Branson, Mo., saw significant damage to hotels and theaters after an apparent tornado ripped through town at around 1 a.m. “The theater next to me kind of exploded,” a Branson business owner said. “It went everywhere.”

FREED

Egypt has lifted a travel ban on seven Americans who are on trial for using what the government alleges are illegally obtained funds to stir up unrest in the country. Though there are nine other Americans involved in the case, only the seven who were under the ban remain in Egypt. Egypt’s decision to prohibit travel by the American citizens, all of whom are employed by American pro-democracy organizations, caused the U.S. to threaten to stop aid to the country. The Americans, along with 27 others, stand accused of trying to encourage an uprising against Egypt’s military rulers.

'Disaster'

With Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney each looking poised to take home 15 of Michigan's 30 delegates, Santorum's team is ready to call the primary a tie. "It's highly likely this is going to end up being a tie, based on the data that we have," Santorum adviser John Brabender said. " I don't know how you look at that as anything besides this being a strong showing for Rick Santorum and anything short of a disaster for Mitt Romney." Brabender also argued that a tie would mean an effective loss for Romney, who was declared the winner last night with a three percentage point lead.

OUT

James Murdoch is giving up his position as executive chairman at News International, the newspaper arm of father Rupert’s media empire. A statement from the company said that Murdoch “relinquished his position” but “will continue to assume a variety of essential corporate leadership mandates, with particular focus on important pay-TV businesses and broader international operations.” News International’s current chief executive will stay on. The latest investigations into wrongdoings at News International involve allegations of a rampant culture of illegal bribery payments.
