Labor Day Must-Cook Meals
Green bean quinoa salad
Hi everyone,

It's almost Labor Day, and I have a serious yen to cook out. I've been cruising the food posts on BlogHer.com and in the BlogHer Publishing Network -- here are some of the recipe's I'm drooling over for the upcoming three-day weekend.

Saturday: Fresh-baked hamburger buns from BlogHer + Gourmet Live's Chicago road trip, and my favorite Monster Mushroom Burgers. I'll serve with Recipe Girl's bread and butter pickles, served with this amazing-looking mango, cucumber and mint smoothie from Home Cooking Rocks!

Monday: Meatless Monday is easy even during a holiday with a good veggie salad. I love this vegan and gluten-free green bean and quinoa salad from Sprouted Kitchen, and the almond-artichoke summer couscous from Picky Palate. I also want to whip up a batch of summery apricot and cherry breezers from Bakers Royale (you can serve them up mocktail or cocktail -- you choose).

Whatever your Labor Day plans, I wish you a good one!

BlogHer '11 Voices of the Year videos
Get ready to snicker, weep, and fist-pump: Video from the BlogHer '11 Voices of the Year keynote has arrived! You can view each speaker individually or see the whole session all at once -- and even embed your favorites on your blog. (Though who can choose? These women are brilliant.) You can watch more video and get full transcripts of all the BlogHer '11 panels on our free Virtual Conference.
I'm Too Pretty to Do Homework
BlogHer Contributing Editor Shannon LC Cate begins with a Twitter storm: "This morning, I awoke to the tweeted news that a sweatshirt featuring the slogan “I’m Too Pretty to do Homework” was being marketed at the J.C. Penney website for girls aged seven to twelve -- or the people who shop online for them, if you want to get picky." But that's just a starting point for an incredible post that moves from Barbie to Congress to the whole wide world -- and back to our families.
