| | | | BlogHers on 9/11: Women Writing Our Past, Present and Future | (©) Copyright 2005 by Bryan Smith/ZUMAPRESS Hi everyone, Last night I sat in a local Chinese restaurant, waiting for takeout for my family and trying to look away from national network news coverage of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I was so disappointed in the treatment of this world event. The maudlin prose written by the CBS National desk -- something like, "…that fateful day…" -- voicing over horrifying images from 2001 was edited to include breaking news reports from Time Square of scary new terror threats to New York City. First I was nervous, then I was, frankly, nauseated by the tone, the sheer packaging of it all. Today? You are the media -- in no small part due to the seminal event that the World Trade Center bombing became to drive us into blogs for real breaking events, news, stories, opinions and, yes, memorials. Today, no national television news segment could ever capture the tragedy nor its effect on world events and American culture like your voices. In honor of the World Trade Center bombing and what meant to you -- that day, in the years since, in the future -- BlogHer is compiling a list of links off to your stories, your drafts of history. We hope you'll add yours -- there are 40 so far, including: Experience, Memories, Emotions Analysis, Investigation, Opinion Traditions, Teachings, Remembrance To add a link to your blog post, join us here. | | | | | | Want to keep up with BlogHers?
