NEXT VICTIM?
Peter Kassig's beheading shocked and horrified Americans on Sunday, but another U.S. citizen is facing the blade of ISIS. A 26-year-old woman whose family does not want her name released was captured last year while doing aid work in Syria, reports Shane Harris. ISIS has never murdered a Western female hostage on film, and doing so would be a radical departure, even for the brutal terrorist group.
WELCOME, PAPA

Pope Francis confirmed that he intends to make his first papal trip to the U.S. next year. "I wish to confirm, according to the wishes of the Lord, that in September of 2015, I will go to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families," the pope said in a speech Monday. The World Meeting of Families, which is held every three years, is considered the largest gathering of Catholic families. The pope's three-day visit will include Sunday Mass on the Ben Franklin Parkway, and as many as two million people could attend. Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput, who is organizing the event, said he "applauded loudest" when the pope confirmed he would attend.

NARCO FOOTBALL LEAGUE
DEA agents surprised several NFL teams on Sunday, checking bags and questioning staff about prescription drugs and narcotics. Robert Silverman writes these aren't used to enhance performance, but rather to just enable players to perform. Football is so brutal that it wouldn't function without dangerous quantities of drugs.
AGAINST THE ODDS
For the first time in months, there is some good news in Liberia: Ebola rates have dropped from 500 to 50 a day, reports Abby Haglage. Safe patient transportation and increased bed capacity have helped Liberia quell the epidemic, but it's not over yet.
FEVER PITCH
The "ceasefire" between Kiev and pro-Russian rebels could end at any moment, reports Jamie Dettmer. Russian troops and tanks are crossing the border, and Ukrainian troops are increasingly on edge. "We don't want anything more than peace, but unfortunately we have to think the worst," said Ukraine's president, Petro Poroshenko.
