WHEN WILL IT STOP?

Shells from Israeli tanks hit a UN school compound in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, leaving at least 15 dead and dozens more wounded. According to reports, pools of blood could be seen in the school courtyard along with strewn books. The school compound was the site where hundreds of Palestinians had come seeking shelter from the fighting. UN facilities have been hit four times in the conflict so far. According to UNRWA, the Palestinian refugee agency, it tried to coordinate with the Israeli army over the location of shelter, but was not successful.

French troops stationed in Mali have located the crash site of Air Algerie Flight 5017, which crashed Thursday en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers. The plane carried 110 passengers and six crew. It is unknown if there are any casualties. The company lost contact with the plane, chartered by Spanish airline Swiftair, after it asked for a route change due to weather. Media quoting Air Algerie report the nationalties of those on board as 50 French, 24 Burkinabe, eight Lebanese, four Algerians, two from Luxembourg, one Belgian, one Swiss, one Nigerian, one Cameroonian, one Ukrainian, and one Romanian.

PENALTY FLAG

Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander, two University of Texas football players, were charged Thursday with sexual assault. Sanders was also charged with improper photography. According to reports, the two met the alleged victim on the night of June 20 and an incident occured in Meander's room on campus. Police records document a sexual assault reported at 3:43 a.m. that night. Texas Coach Charlie Strong had said the players would be suspended if charges were filed.
