STANDING STRONG
For the first time, the woman at the center of a scandal over Hillary Clinton's defense of an alleged child rapist speaks out in depth about her feelings about Clinton and the way she has treated women in the past. In an interview with Josh Rogin, the victim alleges that Clinton smeared her to get her attacker off the hook 40 years ago.
LIKE OLE TIMES
It isn't just the Green Berets the White House is turning to in Iraq. The U.S. is also reaching out to one-time friends and discarded tribal allies in its campaign against ISIS. The administration, reports Eli Lake, is even talking to Ahmed Chalabi, the former exiled leader that liberals blamed for tricking George W. Bush into invading Iraq in the first place.
HIGH TIMES

Testing his goodwill among the younger generations, Pope Francis told an audience at a drug enforcement conference in Rome on Friday that he opposes the legalization of recreational drugs. He addressed the debate happening in countries from the U.S. to Uruguay saying that efforts to legalize drugs "are not only highly questionable from a legislative standpoint, but they fail to produce the desired effects." Francis has frequently spoken about the perils and "evil" of drugs.

STEPPING UP

The U.S. followed through on threats against Uganda for passing a law with harsh punishments for homosexuality. On Thursday the U.S. cut aid to the country, imposed visa restrictions, and canceled a regional military exercise. The White House said the move would "reinforce our support for human rights of all Ugandans regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity." Homosexuality is illegal in 37 African countries, including Uganda, where it has been a crime since the British were in charge. The new law in Uganda set a lifetime prison sentence for "aggravated homosexuality." It also criminalized lesbianism for the first time.
