ZEALOT
Famous for his gospel of "Biblically based common sense," financial adviser Dave Ramsey has made millions telling others how to keep their financial houses in order. Now, reports Matthew Paul Turner, his empire is cracking up as former employees say he offered bounties to find alleged traitors within.
A LEAKER'S LIFE

Apparently sunny Moscow wasn't exactly how Edward Snowden envisioned his post-leaks life. In an interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, Snowden says it's the U.S. government's fault he's in Russia. "The reality is I never intended to end up in Russia," he said. "I had a flight booked to Cuba onwards to Latin America and I was stopped because the United States government decided to revoke my passport and trap me in the Moscow airport." Practicing his new standup act, Snowden told Williams, "So when people ask why are you in Russia, I say, 'Please ask the State Department.'" In an interview with Today, Secretary of State John Kerry responded, saying, "For a supposedly smart guy, that's a pretty dumb answer. If Mr. Snowden wants to come back to the United States today, we'll have him on a flight today."

FRUSTRATING
The Obama administration may be counting down the days until the last soldier leaves Afghanistan, but just as the United States runs for the exits, a new intelligence assessment says terrorist threats in the region are on the rise. Eli Lake reports recent estimates shows a once-weakened al Qaeda growing in its presence and power.
PREDICTABLE

Long expected to become Egypt's president, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi grabbed victory in Thursday's elections. The man who overthrew Egypt's first freely elected leader, President Mohamed Morsi, won with 92.2 percent of the vote. His only rival, leftist politician Hamdeen Sabahi, took 3.8 percent, and 4.2 percent of the votes were declared void. Despite this landslide, the overall voter turnout was lower than anticipated, with 44.4 percent of eligible Egyptian voters going to the polls, a far cry from the 80 percent al-Sisi called for last week. The low turnout suggests that Egyptians may not have as much faith in al-Sisi as his supporters claim.

COMPTON TO CUPERTINO

Apple announced on Wednesday that it was purchasing Beats Electronics for $3 billion, with $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock. Apple will not only offer Beats' famous headphones, but also its music streaming services. The acquisition will allow the brands to be separate, but Beats founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will now work for Apple.  Apple CEO Tim Cook said of the two: "These guys are really unique. It's like finding the precise grain of sand on the beach. They're rare and very hard to find."
