Cheat Sheet - Heartland Killer’s Resume of Hate

Today: Obama Administration Preps New Sanctions Against Russia , Major Fraud in Afghan Elections , Pistorius Trial Paused Due to Sobs
Cheat Sheet: Morning

TRAGEDY
Police arrested 73-year-old Frazier Glen Miller for allegedly killing three people at two Jewish centers outside Kansas City on Sunday. John Avlon and Caitlin Dickson report on Miller's 40-year-history of hate, from creating a points system for murder to running for Congress with the motto, "It's the Jews, stupid."
MONEY TALKS
As pro-Russian forces grow even stronger in their efforts to seize the eastern region of Ukraine, the Obama administration wants to move fast to punish Putin with stronger sanctions, Josh Rogin reports. Obama is ready to hit Russia with another round of potentially crippling measures, but a U.S. official told The Daily Beast, "The European view is that sectorial economic sanctions should be limited to respond to an outright Russian military invasion of Eastern Ukraine." The U.S. likely won't be waiting on Europe, with Obama ready to launch new sanctions as early as Tuesday.
GUN POINT

It's too early to officially tell if Afghanistan will face a presidential run-off, but it is already apparent that there are more reported cases of significant fraud than there were in the 2009 election. Only 10 percent of the vote has been tabulated from the April 5 election, and it looks like the two leading presidential candidates, Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani, may be heading toward a run-off. The Independent Election Commission warned, though, that not only could these results change, but the 870 cases of fraud at the polls in this year's elections could potentially significantly skew the outcome. While some cases of election fraud were subtle, others were pretty bold. In one reported instance, a member of parliament forced his way into a polling place at gunpoint and stole the ballot boxes.

CRY ME A RIVER

Once again, Oscar Pistorius broke down on the witness stand during his murder trial for the death of former girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The court had to temporarily adjourn Monday morning because the former Olympian broke down when asked what exactly he shouted when he moved toward the bathroom where he claims he believed there was an intruder. When court was back in session, Pistorius broke down again when asked why he opened fire, and the court had to be temporarily adjourned for a second time. The tears bought Pistorius little sympathy with chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel, who accused him of "concocting" a new series of events. "You're tailoring your version as you're sitting there," he told Pistorius.

A 1,200-mile-wide area stretching from the western border of Idaho to the eastern borders of North and South Dakota is virtually free of abortion providers. Robin Marty reports that the situation is getting worse after an apparent pro-life vandal destroyed a clinic in Kalispell, Mont., last month.
