Tornadoes whipping through the southern and central regions of the U.S. on Sunday killed at least 16 people in Arkansas. Deaths were also reported in Oklahoma and Iowa. At least 25 people were also reported injured in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Houses, schools, and other structures were completely leveled by the severe storms. Before Sunday, the country hadn't experienced a storm of EF3 or greater, which means winds greater than 136 mph, in 160 days, the fourth-longest streak on record. More storms are expected in the South and Mississippi Valley on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
