Republicans Want to Bail Out Hospitals Republican leaders in Mississippi and Georgia are debating whether to bail out state hospitals that would have received funding under Obamacare. Twenty-five states have either refused to expand their Medicaid programs or are still debating whether to do so. That's left a large number of poor residents without insurance and unable to pay for treatments, which leaves hospitals in the lurch. The federal government has pledged to pay the full cost of Medicaid expansion for three years, but a number of Southern states have rejected the plan.
