Mitt Romney's bid for the White House was doomed by his failure to raise enough funds, claims a report in Thursday's Wall Street Journal. After the long and bruising GOP nomination fight, Romney had spent more money than he'd realized, making money the campaign's biggest worry in the spring. Romney had spent so much money in the primaries that he couldn't begin spending his general-election funds until he accepted the GOP nomination at the end of August, which also put him at a serious disadvantage. The constant need for money had driven Romney to a private fundraiser at a Florida donor's mansion in May, where he made his now-infamous "47 percent" remarks.
