Cheat Sheet - Adam Sandler: 'I'm Filled With Hate'

Read This, Skip That ....

September 12, 2014
INTERVIEW
The actor flexes his dramatic muscle in The Cobbler and sat down with Marlow Stern in Toronto to discuss his desire to play a villain ("I'm filled with hate, and I would love to show it"), getting fired from Saturday Night Live, and why the critics hate him. "I don't sit there and read [bad reviews]," the comedian says. "But am I excited that they say stuff like that? You know, I wish they could calm down a little bit."
SHOCKER

Toronto's crack-smoking mayor Rob Ford has withdrawn his name from the Toronto mayoral race—but not because of drug abuse. On Friday, Ford's campaign submitted paperwork to take his name off the ballot and put his brother Doug on it following the mayor's hospitalization for a tumor this week. "As many of you know I've been dealing with a serious medical issue, the details of which are unknown," Ford said in a statement. Doug Ford suggested the tumor might be cancerous, saying the mayor may be facing "surgery and chemotherapy and could be on his back for six to eight weeks." Strangely, the medical issue isn't so serious as to keep Rob Ford from running for his old city-council seat, though: He submitted that paperwork on Friday.

BLADE RUNNER
A South African judge found the star athlete guilty of manslaughter but cleared him on murder charges. Kelly Berold lays out the evidence, Pistorius's testimony, and what's next for the "Blade Runner."
ANGER ISSUES

According to Florida police, a man called 911 on Tuesday because George Zimmerman threatened to kill him during a bout of road rage. The man called 911 again the next day, claiming Zimmerman was waiting for him at work. Zimmerman was confronted by police and he admitted to arguing with the man. The police said they have not arrested Zimmerman because the man does not want to press charges. Zimmerman was acquitted in 2013 of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

UH OH

The ear, nose, and throat specialist who was in the clinic operating room when Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest was not authorized to practice medicine in the facility. The ENT had been brought in by the comedian's gastroenterologist, and inspected her voice box twice during the surgery. Neither the gastroenterologist nor the ENT has been accused of wrongdoing. Apparently the medical director at the clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest is no longer practicing there.
