T.J. Lane, the man who killed three students during an attack at Chardon High School in Ohio two years ago, has been apprehended and is in custody after he escaped from prison, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Lane, 19, escaped from the Allen Correctional Institution in Lima, at 7:45 p.m. Thursday with two other inmates. One inmate was soon captured, but Lane remained at large until he was captured at 1:20 a.m. Friday. Authorities launched a search in woods and a residential area near the prison, which is located about 80 miles south of Toledo. Lane pleaded guilty in March 2013 to killing three students at Chardon High on Feb. 27, 2012. He was sentenced to life without parole. At his sentencing, he wore a T-shirt with "killer" written on it, and made obscene gestures toward the victms' families. Another escapee, Clifford Opperud, was still on the lam early Friday.
