Unbelievable - Apple, for all its fantastic products that people love, seems to be doing everything it can to be a company that people don't like. Do the right thing - get a film crew, get Steve, and have him hand-deliver an iPad to this woman by the time the Today show comes on tomorrow morning. For a company that usually has its ear to the virtual ground, this should be seen as a chance to have a great service recovery - rather than a PR nightmare!
The Huffington Post is on track to become the most highly trafficked news site on the Web. Congrats - their social media strategy (and yes, I feel that I am a very small part of it) - is working well to make them a market leader - and profitable, too.
Well, the one bit of good news out of this list is that being largely hands-on, immediate service jobs, most can't be outsourced. Maybe we need to emphasize education and achievement just a bit more in our society, eh?
Seeing BP's tactics to fight the oil spill have been like watching an episode of "Fawlty Towers" - who knew Basil Fawlty rose through the ranks to become a BP executive. I must say, amazing that in 2010, we (and I'm using that term loosely) don't have better technology to deal with a situation like this - especially given the catastrophic consequences.
Watch the new underwater video to see how much - or little - oil is being captured by BP's mile-long pipe:
We need to have BP held responsible - and what are "legitimate claims" and "reasonable damages" will likely take years - if not decades - to settle. Hopefully, there will be a mechanism for the fishermen and other industry devastated by this tragedy to be able to survive in the coming months.
Hmmm, lucky that some players on the other team (let alone his own) didn't take out "vigilante flag justice on him"! I hope he learns from this mistake - and why wasn't he charged with exposure and public indecency for (in Seinfeldian terms) "taking it out"?
What is you could see your website traffic go up by 600% and have a record month in sales, all with very little expense?
Here's a story about a leading electronics/furniture retailer in Singapore, Courts. Partnering with its home country advertising agency, Rapp Singapore, the company recently ran a reverse auction-based promotion on 15 select items, producing these exciting results. You can read about the reverse auction event here in an article from Marketing Interactive, reported by Elizabeth Low in Singapore: Courts markets with reverse online auction
Sometimes, the best ideas are borrowed. Remember the great Picasso quote, famously co-opted by Steve Jobs: "Good artists borrow, great artists steal!" Watch:
And yes, for you youngsters, Steve Jobs DID once have hair!
Food for thought: Maybe some of those "specials" gathering dust on the shelves or in your back-storage could be the secret to quickly ramping-up your web traffic - and your business! Get moving with reverse auctions today!
Well, that could mean no Triple Crown winner ever again! Hard to believe that racing could be in that bad a shape in New York, and that bodes badly for the state of the sport across the country. Without ancillary revenue (i.e. other forms of gambling), horse tracks appear to be the legacy of a bygone era. Sad, but the sport just has not kept pace (yeah, a pun) and reached newer demographics.
