TARGETED
The same City Council chamber that awarded Officer Darren Wilson a commendation six months before he killed Michael Brown also serves as the site of one of the town's biggest rackets. Michael Daly reports on how the city collects more than $2.5 million in 2013 in fines and court fees from the town's poorest residents.
TRUCKIN'
The white-painted military trucks that have been stopped at the Ukraine border for more than a week are now rolling across it. Anna Nemtsova reports from Crimea, where a new stage in the Russia-Ukraine war has begun.
LAWLESS

A police officer in Oklahoma City was arrested on Thursday after being accused of sexually assaulting at least six women while on patrol. The officer, Daniel Holtzclaw, was a three-year veteran and is being held on $5 million bond. He is charged with rape, oral sodomy, and sexual battery. Police believe there are more victims who have not come forward. He apparently assaulted the women on traffic stops.

ANGRY

Chelsea Manning, who is serving a 35-year sentence for leaking to WikiLeaks, claims that the military is paying mere "lip service" to her request and is still denying her gender-reassignment treatment. "In my daily life, I am reminded of this when I look at the name on my badge, the first initial sewed into my clothing, the hair and grooming standards that I adhere to, and the titles and courtesies used by the staff," Manning said in a statement to NBC News. "Ultimately, I just want to be able to live my life as the person that I am, and to be able to feel comfortable in my own skin." In July, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced that he had approved an Army recommendation to begin early stages of gender reassignment, however Manning's lawyer says the military has failed to follow through and that they are preparing to sue. The Army refused to comment on when treatment would begin.

AWKWARD

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has made yet another cringe-inducing racial remark, this time to the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce. "The Asian population is so productive. I don't think you're smarter than anybody else, but you've convinced a lot of us you are," Reid said, to a laughing crowd. As he walked off stage, Reid continued, "One problem that I've had today is keeping my Wongs straight." The video was recorded by the GOP opposition research group American Rising. On Friday, Reid apologized. "My comments were in extremely poor taste and I apologize. Sometimes I say the wrong thing."
