UNDERCOVER
Homosexuality is no longer an honor code violation at Brigham Young University, but Mormon LGBT students say they have few choices beyond a celibate life or a secret one. Emily Shire investigates the "alternative underground" at BYU for those whose sexuality falls outside the church's sanctions.
NOT HAPPENING

Nigerian Interior Minister Abba Moro said Monday that his country would not exchange militant prisoners for the 200-plus schoolgirls who were abducted last month. In a video released Monday, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said he would consider returning the girls in a swap for jailed Islamic militants. Although the Nigerian government had previously said all options were on the table to rescue the kidnapped girls, Moro told the BBC: "As far as this government is concerned, the option of [the] swap of innocent citizens with people who have taken arms against the country… is not on the table."

WRONG WAY

Police arrested Alec Baldwin and issued summons for disorderly conduct and a traffic offense Tuesday morning in New York. Baldwin was allegedly riding his bike the wrong way down a street. Police say he became belligerent following the traffic stop, which led to the arrest. Baldwin was released before noon. Shortly after, he took to Twitter to rant. "New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign," he tweeted. Baldwin also tweeted the name and badge number the officer who arrested him.

NON-DISCRIMINATING
Is Pope Francis willing to go to extremes to fill the pews? Apparently so, reports Barbie Latza Nadeau, if his latest outreach message is an indication. In a quirky morning Mass, the pope used a far-out example of little green Martians seeking Jesus to preach about the church's inclusiveness.
STICKS AND STONES
The power of the insult should never be underestimated. In the psychological war that's dismembering Ukraine, writes Igor Kossov, the historical (and hysterical) insults used by both sides are almost as dangerous as the guns.
