THE BEST OF US
As if out of a Muslim hater's dream, the developer behind Park51, better known as the "Ground Zero Mosque," is walking away. For all the initial furor in 2010, the mosque and its community today are a quiet example of what is great in about America, as well as a defeat for the murderers behind 9/11. If the mosque is indeed demolished, says Michael Daly, we should consider it a defeat for all lovers of America.
SO LONG
Kathleen Sebelius was the second-string nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services before Tom Daschle had to bow out because of tax problems. Now, her name is synonymous with the disastrous rollout of Obamacare. However, writes Michael Tomasky, as time goes on, Sebelius will get credit for the spectacular turnaround the administration pulled off.
TRAGEDY

A bus carrying prospective students for Humboldt State University was struck by a FedEx truck in California on Thursday. The drivers of the bus and truck were killed along with eight other people, including some of the students. The truck crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting one car, and then the bus. "As we mourn the loss of those who died, we join all Californians in expressing our gratitude for the tireless work of the Red Cross and emergency personnel who responded bravely to this terrible tragedy," said Governor Jerry Brown in a statement. FedEx says it is pledging full cooperation with the investigation.

GAME OF RISK

Satellite photographs from NATO were released on Thursday that showed Russian fighter jets and tanks massed near Ukraine's border. The equipment was captured by the commercial satellite imaging company DigitalGlobe, and the photographs come after Moscow accused NATO of exaggerating the situation. NATO's release came on the same day that Vladimir Putin threatened to cut back gas sales to Ukraine.

WATCH OUT!

Hillary Clinton has had to dodge some tough questions during her career in politics, but on Thursday the former Secretary of State was forced to dodge a flying object. A shoe was hurled at Clinton while she was speaking at an Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She did not appear to be struck by it, and she even cracked jokes about the incident. "Is that somebody throwing something at me? Is that part of Cirque du Soleil?" she said, adding, "Thank goodness she didn't play softball like I did. The woman suspected of throwing the shoe was taken into custody.
