Vicki Powers recently wrote about a European Commission competition that aims to get researchers working together to solve grand challenges by applying information and communications technologies to social problems. She noted that the six projects chosen as finalists will compete for two slots where the winners will receive 1 billion euros (about $1.4 billion) over 10 years. Check it out.
