Cheat Sheet - Who Killed an American Teacher in Abu Dhabi?

Read This, Skip That ....

December 03, 2014
MURDER MYSTERY
A 37-year-old American teacher in Abu Dhabi was stabbed to death in a mall bathroom by someone dressed as a woman. A month earlier, American teachers were threatened by jihadis online. Chris Allbritton writes she may not be the last target as the Emirates fight alongside the U.S. against ISIS.
NO CHARGE
On Wednesday, a Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict the NYPD officer who placed a chokehold on Eric Garner, which led to his death. No charges will be brought against white police officer Daniel Pantaleo for placing a chokehold on Garner, who is black, during a violent arrest that was recorded on video by a witness. The death occurred less than two weeks after Darren Wilson fatally shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Parallels have been drawn between the two cases for both involving white cops killing black civilians. The grand jury made its decision after hearing months of testimony, including from Pantaleo.
HOLD ON

The execution of a schizophrenic inmate on Texas's death row was halted by a federal appeals court Wednesday afternoon for further review of "complex legal questions" in the case. (The court did not say what those questions are.) Lawyers had sought a stay in order for mental-health professionals to determine whether or not Scott Panetti was mentally competent. The lawyers argue executing him would amount to cruel and unusual punishment. Panetti, who was convicted of shooting and killing his wife's parents in 1992, was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1978 and hospitalized multiple times due to the illness. Panetti represented himself at his murder trial, dressing as a cowboy and calling JFK, Jesus, and the pope as witnesses.

SECURITY FAIL
Sony Pictures is set to say North Korea was responsible for the massive hacking attack that revealed pre-release movies, Social Security numbers, and more last week. While Pyongyang may have hacked Sony, the movie studio should really be angry at Washington. Gordon G. Chang writes the Obama administration has done shamefully little to protect American business from international cyberattacks.
ANTI-CLIMAX
The British Board of Film Classification quietly clamped down on what is permissible between consenting adults in video-on-demand online porn, including female ejaculation. Where are the bans on male performers though? Emily Shire asks. Turns out the sexist double standard exists in the mainstream and in porn.
