Cheat Sheet - Why Your Kids Must Watch ‘South Park’

Read This, Skip That ....

September 24, 2014
AUTHORITAH!
Nearly every episode of South Park, which returns for its 18th season tonight, demonstrates how people in power use hysteria to force us into the same social or political straightjacket. Sure, there's a lot of cursing and blue material, says Nick Gillespie, but there's perhaps no better classroom for kids to learn skepticism toward authority and respect for diversity of opinion.
TELL 'EM

Speaking like a wartime commander in chief, President Obama at the United Nations asked the world to join the United States to defeat ISIS. Addressing the General Assembly, the president said the U.S. would "work with a broad coalition to dismantle this network of death" that only understands "the language of force." Threading the needle between inaction and imperialism, Obama said "we will neither tolerate terrorist safe-havens, nor act as an occupying power." Obama saved some harsh words for Vladimir Putin's gradual takeover of Ukraine. "This is a vision of the world in which might makes right, a world in which one nation's borders can be redrawn by another, and a civilized people are not allowed to recover the remains of their loved ones because of the truth that might be revealed."

EXCESSIVE?
The Pentagon did not trust the Syrian military to leave American warplanes alone as they bombed terrorists this week so it used blisteringly fast, stealth planes attack. Dave Majumdar reports on the F-22 Raptor, which cost more to use in one day than a space mission.
BROTHERLY LOVE

Laws banning sexual relations between siblings may get the boot if the German Ethics Committee has its way. "Criminal law is not the appropriate means to preserve a social taboo," the advisory committee said in a statement released Wednesday. "The fundamental right of adult siblings to sexual self-determination is to be weighed more heavily than the abstract idea of protection of the family." The Committee's declaration follows a case famous in Germany about a sister and brother who had four children together. They didn't meet until the sister was 16 and the brother was an adult. They were forced to live separately and the brother served three years in prison for incest.

BACK OFF
The lefties who "flooded" Wall Street this week to demand a greener world are misguided. Wall Street, argues Dan Gross, are the ones financing the construction of a post-carbon economy in a way that government can't or won't.
