Cheat Sheet - The NRA's Despicable New Low

Read This, Skip That ....

STOKING FEAR
Even after a little girl accidentally killed a man with an Uzi, the NRA is still shilling away for the firearms industry. However, their latest round of ads professing to stand for "courage" and the "good guys" is even more reprehensible than the usual propaganda, writes Michael Daly. The NRA keeps trying to scare us to convince us that everyone needs a gun in post-Sandy Hook America.
ROYAL BABY SEQUEL
Prince George will soon be a big brother. Clarence House confirmed Monday morning that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with her second child. Tom Sykes reports that Kate is less than 12 weeks pregnant, and as with George, she is being treated for acute morning sickness. Also like her first pregnancy: The international media is going crazy.
HARD, LONG SLOG

The U.S. is planning a campaign against ISIS that may take as many as three years of sustained effort to complete, including attacking the self-proclaimed Islamic State's redoubt in Syria, according to senior officials in the Obama administration. The first phase, which is focused on airstrikes, is already underway. The second phase, which won't begin until Iraq forms a more inclusive government, will involve intensive training and equipment outfitting of Kurdish fighters, Iraqi military, and possibly Sunni tribes. The third phase will be destroying ISIS sanctuary in Syria. On Sunday, President Obama told Meet the Press that his plan for ISIS is "not the equivalent of the Iraq War" in which 100,000 troops would be deployed.

IT GETS BETTER
Many Americans are angry that President Obama will delay executive action on immigration until after the midterms, but we won't see real reform until the 2020s, Michael Tomasky writes. Latinos won't matter this election, but Hillary Clinton will have to keep them happy beginning next year if she wants to be president.
AT LAST

It's never too late to begin a new chapter in life, say two women who have gotten married in their nineties. Vivian Boyack, 91, and Alice "Nonie" Dubes, 90, wed each other over the weekend after 72 years as a couple. The women sat next to each other during a ceremony in Davenport, Iowa, attended by a small group of family and close friends. The pair met growing up in their hometown of Yale, Iowa, before moving to Davenport, where Boyack taught school and Dubes did payroll work. Over the years they traveled to all 50 U.S. states and all of Canada's provinces, as well as making two trips to England. "We've had a good time," Dubes said. Iowa began allowing same-sex marriage in 2009.
