Cheat Sheet - USA Lost, But Tim Howard Is a Winner

Read This, Skip That ....

THE WALL
The U.S. may be out of World Cup contention after losing to Belgium 2-1, but the team's goalkeeper, Tim Howard, set a record with 16 saves. Americans are officially caring about soccer, says Emily Shire, and Howard's amazing story of overcoming broken bones in his back and Tourette syndrome is unforgettable.
EMPTY GESTURE
Israel is impressing nobody as its war planes hit Hamas positions in Gaza in response to the kidnapping and murder of three teenage Israelis. The real mastermind responsible for the wave of kidnapping attempts is sitting pretty in Turkey, reports Eli Lake
BORDER BUG
With some 1,000 children crossing the border each day, the White House has declared the situation a "humanitarian crisis." Despite seeming like anti-immigrant hysteria at first, it turns out a few of the estimated 52,000 children who have come have brought H1N1 with them, reports Ruben Navarrette.
BOILING POINT

A 17-year-old Palestinian male was found in a forested area early Wednesday in Jerusalem, just a day after funerals for three Israeli teenagers who had been kidnapped and killed. While the motive for the death of the Palestinian boy is still unknown, it has already been called a "horrible and barbaric act" by Jerusalem's mayor, and the country's justice minister said there would be "zero tolerance" for the murder. Police received a call that the boy had been seen being forcefully shoved in a car by someone. Police have been deployed to Palestinian neighborhoods to keep order.

VIGILANTES

Shouting "USA!" "Impeach Obama!" and "Deport, Deport!" protesters blocked three buses of undocumented immigrants going from Texas to San Diego to be processed at a border-patrol station. The protesters forced the bus to turn around. Roughly 60,000 to 80,000 undocumented children without parents have crossed the border this year in what the White House has deemed an "immediate humanitarian crisis," but the facilities in Texas are too crowded so immigrants are being sent to other facilities.
