DOMINO EFFECT

As the fighting in Gaza escalates, anti-Semites across Europe are attacking the continent's Jews under the pretext of protesting Israel. Eight synagogues have been attacked in the past two weeks. Ironically, writes Eli Lake, this string of violence is only making the case for immigration to Israel much stronger for European Jews, and Israel is prepared to assist in bringing over the targeted communities as needed.

TIME BOMB

The day after 10,000 Palestinians protested on the West Bank, the Fatah political party called for Palestinians to have a "day of rage" to coincide with the final Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. (Fatah was founded by Yasser Arafat and is the party of Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority.) Meanwhile, Secretary of State John Kerry is pushing for a ceasefire that both sides will agree on. Israel's security cabinet is meeting Friday to discuss the plan as Hamas fired a slew of rockets from Gaza into Israel. The death toll has now reached 815 Palestinians and 35 on the Israeli side.

FLASHBACK

While the Russian military fires artillery into Ukraine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Martin Dempsey drew comparisons between Vladimir Putin and Joseph Stalin, saying the recent offensive on Ukraine reminds him of Russia's invasion of Poland in 1939 just weeks after Hitler's blitzkrieg.

THE KIDS AREN'T ALRIGHT

Twice as many unaccompanied children are coming over the U.S.-Mexico border this year, and they're also younger than ever. According to a Pew study, there is a 117 percent increase in captures of children ages 12 or under who have made the long journey alone. More than 57,000 young kids have crossed into the U.S. without a parent or guardian since October. The majority are 16 and 17 years old and only 2 percent were under 5 this year.

BAD BLOOD

There's no place like home—unless you live in a country where your father is suspected of aiding in shooting down a plane full of its citizens. Vladimir Putin's daughter, 29-year-old Maria, hasn't been seen around her home in the Netherlands since the Malaysia Airlines flight went down last week, her neighbors say. Maria Putin lives in the Amsterdam area, near a town where a local official called for her to be deported.
