BAD MONEY

Chris McDaniel, the Tea Party candidate for U.S. Senate in Mississippi, has accepted donations from a man with ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Carl Ford, the former lawyer to KKK Imperial Wizard Sam Bowers, has given $800 to McDaniel's campaign. Ben Jacobs spoke with Ford about his support for McDaniel and why he fears McDaniel's opponent would encourage "knocking the wall down on the borders and advocating bringing more illegals in."

FILLING THE VOID

As President Obama weighs his options for Iraq, Iran is already helping the government lead the fight against insurgent group ISIS. Eli Lake reports that U.S. and Iraqi officials say Iran has already offered up its army, spies, and highly trained irregular units. Now, the world's leading sponsor of terrorism is building a close, strategic relationship with Iraq, creating a diplomatic bind for the U.S.

YEAH!

The U.S. set two records Monday night in a dramatic win: the country's fastest World Cup goal and, later, first goal made by an American substitute in World Cup history. The game got off to a quick start, with Clint Dempsey scoring just 34 seconds into it. But the U.S. then managed to hold off relentless pressure from Ghana until the 82nd minute, when Andre Ayew scored to tie the game for the Black Stars. Only four minutes later though, John Brooks, who came in as a substitute at the half, scored on a header off a corner kick to ensure a win for Team USA.

TOUCHDOWN

A freakish dual tornado touched down in a small town in Nebraska, a result of a massive Monday thunderstorm. Pilgner suffered considerable damage after two tornadoes hit side-by-side at the same time. Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman declared a state of emergency as tornadoes hit multiple counties, with one town reporting one child dead and 16 people critically injured.

VERY META

Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous and well-studied artists in history, but it turns out the Spaniard managed to keep some visual secrets hidden. At least for a century or so. Scientists and art experts have discovered that his 1901 "The Blue Room" actually features a hidden man sporting a beard, three rings, a jacket, and a bowtie. The Associated Press learned of the new artistic discovery, which was unearthed using infrared imagery and other technology, such as X-ray fluorescence intensity mapping. It's unclear who the man is. Experts have already ruled out Picasso himself and some have suggested Ambrose Villard, the Paris art dealer who hosted Picasso's first show.
