LOOK IN THE MIRROR
President Obama is "taking a nap" while ISIS takes over? It was John Boehner's party that gave us the Iraq War, and it was Bush who negotiated the "peace." Michael Tomasky asks: Is there anything the right won't play politics with?
PROGRESS

The White House is set to issue an executive order Monday that will make it illegal for federal contractors to discriminate against workers based on sexual orientation or gender identity. This comes two years after the Obama administration declined to take action to ensure LGBT workers' protections. The new rule indicates that the White House does not think the Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which is legislation for LGBT workers' protection, will make it through the House this session. It's still legal in 29 states to be fired for being gay.

MR. PADRE

Mr. Padre is gone. Tony Gwynn has died at the age of 54. The Hall of Famer played 20 seasons with the San Diego Padres, earning eight National League batting titles, five Golden Gloves, and 15 All-Star Game appearances. He hit a career average .338 and snagged 3,141 hits during his time in the big leagues. Since 2002, he had been serving as the baseball coach for his alma mater, San Diego State University, and received a contract extension last week, despite his known health problems. For the past four years, he's been battling cancer in his salivary glands. His son, Tony Gwynn Jr., is an outfielder with the Philadelphia Phillies.

NOT JUST LEVERAGE
Which constitutes the bigger mess: the humanitarian crisis on the Texas-Mexico border, where Central American children are streaming into the United States at the rate of more than 1,000 per day, or proponents of both sides of the American immigration debate exploiting this tragic story of human suffering to advance their agendas? The media love the "border kids," writes Ruben Navarrette. But they're being held 30 to 40 in ice-cold cells with one toilet. It's government-sponsored child abuse.
SAHARAN SMUGGLERS
On the porous desert border with Egypt, guns, cash and other illicit goods flow from Libya's lawless frontier toward buyers in the Middle East. Peter Schwartzstein follows the black market of trans-Sahara smugglers and meets the unscrupulous entrepreneurs getting rich while Libya burns.
