Naturally, the World's Most Stereotypical Lamborghini driver is ready to roll. According to his website, Team Salamone is sponsored by a divorce law firm (his). Team Salamone is loyal to the Lamborghini brand. Team Salamone is philanthropic. Starting tomorrow, Team Salamone will be rocking what they claim is the world's first chrome plated Aventador in the 3,000 mile rally. I know what you're thinking: How did a Jalopnik staffer get past the Team Salamone website's "Haters Do Not Enter" warning? Well, although my financial and automotive status technically place me in the hater class, I prefer to remain neutral. We'll call my role "observer," and you can pick which sides you will. A word to the true Team Salamone haters: You will be redirected to Google's search page. Have a nice life. But for those on the WINNING team, a trove of inspirational photos and videos awaits, including a Gumball 3000 poster featuring a busty woman (presumably Concubine Salamone) pressing her jubblies in and up in a silent plea for event support. The Gumball rally — not to be confused with the Cannonball Run — seems to have quieted down since the 2007 international traffic fatality mishap associated with the event. But it will again be held in the U.S. this year, beginning in Times Square and finishing in Los Angeles by way of Niagara Falls, Toronto, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Santa Fe, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. Traditionally, the event has attracted quite a few celebrities — everyone from Darryl Hanna to the Jackass crew. That's not surprising considering entry fees have been anywhere from $40,000 to more than $100,000 since Gumball's inaugural 1999 run. Some years require airlifting participants' supercars (although it's not always supercars — there have been some specialty vehicles as well), but the NYC to L.A. dash will be an economic downturn special. Nothing but highway, a few tracks, and possibly a longish ferry ride. We'll be interested to see how a huge mob of Lambos and other exotics fare at the two Canadian border crossings they'll have to negotiate. Even if Transport Canada is informed in advance, there's no telling how individual border crossing agents will react. We can only hope that iPhone cameras and GoPros have plenty of memory left by the time the troupe reaches Sin City. What better backdrop for the antics of Mr. and Mrs., er Concubine, Salamone? Team Salamone has stated on its website that the team's Lambo aficionados will have their cars on display in Times Square beginning tonight at 10 p.m. The race, or whatever you want to call it since the Gumball organization doesn't officially condone speeding or unsafe driving, kicks off at noon on Friday.
