CBC's Ron MacLean Attempts Hackneyed Comparison Of Hockey Players To 9/11 First Responders, Fails

By Timothy Burke

CBC's Ron MacLean Attempts Hackneyed Comparison Of Hockey Players To 9/11 First Responders, Fails CBC host Ron MacLean opened tonight's coverage of the Stanley Cup playoff Game Six bout between the Capitals and Rangers with an extended and tortuous metaphor claiming the players were "like firefighters, like police officers," and throwing in 9/11 references.

While MacLean began his statement saying "it is crazy to compare what the emergency responders did in that time," he went on to do exactly that, then attempted to recover with (about firefighters) "our worst day is their every day." For once, Don Cherry wasn't the one saying something stupid. [CBC]
