CHEAT SHEET
MUST READS FROM ALL OVER

FAMILY MATTERS
1. Haley Barbour's Wife Vetoes 2012 Presidential Bid

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour had given every indication that he
was planning a full-scale run for the Republican nomination, from losing
weight and lining up a team to testing a message and visiting key
primary states. But his wife Marsha never jumped on the presidential
bandwagon - and now he's out of the race. "It horrifies me," she said of
a campaign and the "huge sacrifice" it would mean for her family. "You
would commit to 10 years, which would be two years of campaigning, then
you run to win, so it would be four years. Then you would want to run
again - so it's 10 years, and it's the last part of our productive
lives." The Daily Beast's Jill Lawrence on this year's campaign game
changer: family sentiment.

MIDDLE EAST
2. 500 Arrested in Syria Crackdown

Syria arrested at least 500 pro-democracy sympathizers Monday - the same
day in which tanks killed at least 23 people in the city of Daraa. At
least two more people were killed in the Damascus suburb of Douma. The
White House denounced on Monday the "brutal violence" and said it was
considering sanctions. The State Department, meanwhile, has recommended
that all U.S. citizens leave Syria.

WEATHER
3. Five Killed in Arkansas Flood, Tornado

Five people died in an Arkansas storm on Tuesday - two from what appears
to be a tornado, and three in flooding. The tornado touched down in the
town of Vilonia, which one resident says is "gone." Elsewhere in
Arkansas, three people died when floodwaters swept their vehicles off
the road. Relentless rain storms in the central U.S. are now threatening
to burst levies in southern Missouri, where more than 1,000 homes have
been evacuated along the Black River.

4. Yemen Opposition Agrees to Transition

Has another Middle Eastern regime bitten the dust? Yemen's opposition
has agreed to a plan that will see President Ali Abdullah Saleh step
down in a month in exchange for immunity for himself and his family. The
plan was negotiated by Western allies and Gulf States. Not everyone,
however, is pleased: Pro-democracy demonstrators who are not part of the
talks have called for new protests. Two demonstrators were killed by
government forces just hours before the opposition's announcement.

LIBYA
5. Gaddafi Troops Resume Misrata Attack

Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi's forces continued to pound the city
of Misrata Monday with heavy shelling, despite earlier promises to leave
the city. Gaddafi's forces, stationed outside Misrata, shelled a
residential neighborhood, killing at least 12. The attack on the
residential neighborhood killed women and children, set a car ablaze,
destroyed a house and hit an aging hospital with shrapnel. Gaddafi's
forces had promised on Friday to turn Misrata over to the local tribes,
but they gave no indication of abandoning their assault on the
once-wealthy port city.
