iPad 2 vs. Xoom: Tablet Smackdown; Eight Ways to Nail a Job Interview
iPad 2 vs. Xoom: Tablet Smackdown
What better way to compare two of the hottest tablets on the market than a side-by-side comparison? So, we headed down to a local Best Buy and compared the Motorola Xoom to Apple's iPad 2 right in the store. We bring you a quick-and-dirty comparison of the look, feel and performance of the two tablets. In addition to the local retail store, the iPad 2 is going international.

Eight Ways to Nail a Job Interview
Don't blow that job interview, or chase away customers. We offer more tips on how to present yourself well, including what not to wear and how to use body language.
Samsung, HTC, RIM, Dell Dominate CTIA
The CTIA conference is considered one the year's premier events for the mobile and wireless industry. While part of the show focused on trends and government regulation of wireless technology, there were also plenty of opportunities to see the latest and greatest in gadgets. And HTC, Samsung, Dell and Research In Motion had their tablets and smartphones front and center. Many of those vendors are hoping their devices have what it takes to knock Apple's iPhone and iPad off of the top spot in the market.
10 Powerful Women Cracking Tech's Glass Ceiling
While there are a number of women CEOs, including Yahoo's Carol Bartz and Xerox's Ursula Burns, the bulk of female power in the tech world seems to be concentrated in the vice presidents, COOs and CTOs. But that's not a bad place to be, considering where women were only a few short years ago. Regardless of their exact title--vice president, CIO, COO or CTO--these executives have direct input into shaping and driving the company's strategy. Now that's power. Meanwhile, companies are also looking to recruit more women developers.
Sprint, HTC Hope 3D, 4G Conquer the Mobile Market
Sprint and its hardware partner HTC are hoping that two new technologies--3D and 4G--help the two companies conquer the tablet and smartphone markets. At CTIA, the HTC Evo View 4G tablet and HTC Evo 3D smartphone represent Sprint's next big chance at not only carving a separate market niche from its Android-based competitors, but allowing the carrier to compete against AT&T in the wake of its deal for T-Mobile.
Firefox 4 Enhancements Feed the Need for Speed
As a speedy, modern, cross-platform Web browser, Firefox 4 is well worth evaluating for any organization, particularly those with a heterogeneous mix of client operating systems. However, organizations should also keep an eye on Google's Chrome, which tends to match Firefox in features and performance, and offers Group Policy-based management support that Firefox 4 lacks. But so far, people seem to be drawn to Firefox 4 based on the impressive numbers of downloads Mozilla has recorded. If you need more reasons to give it a try, just look at how IE9 falls short when compared to Firefox 4.
Geolocational Customer Data a Boon for Business
Big data gives businesses and social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, a better understanding of trends and customer behavior. However, what brings this data into focus is analyzing geolocational information to determine where people will be at a given time, said an IBM scientist. Privacy issues aside, such "space-time-travel" analyses offer huge promise to businesses.
Oracle Ends Itanium Support, Drawing Ire of Intel and HP
Oracle will no longer write software for Intel's Itanium chips, saying Intel is planning to end development of the platform. The statement drew a harsh rebuke from Intel CEO Paul Otellini, who said the company has a long Itanium roadmap. HP, which recently announced it is putting Itanium in its new Integrity NonStop BladeSystem, also attacked Oracle's move, calling it a "shameless gambit" that will hurt customers.

How to Choose the Right Customers for Marketing Campaigns
Today's marketing landscape is far more complex than in the past. Customers expect personalized communications when and where they want it. Poorly-targeted marketing campaigns, in which an organization has not properly identified a prospect or customer, wastes valuable time, money and resources. But a highly-targeted marketing campaign, which goes against the conventional direct-marketing approach, quickly increases a company's ROI and profitability. IBM SPSS predictive analytics optimizes your campaign by making the customer -- not the campaign -- the focus. Rather than choosing the best customers for each campaign, IBM SPSS predictive analytics throws the old marketing business model up in the air and chooses the best campaign for each customer, increasing ROI and putting analytics to work for your organization.

Solving the Seven Most Common Power Problems
A recent U.S. power study shows that industrial and digital business firms are losing more than $45 billion per year due to power interruptions. Couple that with increased use of electronics in the home and business, and consumers are making more demands on the quality of the power they receive. The fact is that intelligent technology demands intelligent power that is free from interruption or disturbance. The IEEE has listed the seven most common power disturbances to include transients, interruptions, sag/undervoltage, swell/overvoltage, waveform distortion, voltage fluctuations and frequency variations. Not all power disturbances are created equal so it's critical that organizations understand which power infractions will affect modern equipment.

How to Avoid the Top Three Cost-Cutting Mistakes
With budgets under scrutiny at every company, CIOs are feeling the pressure to cut costs. While some cost-cutting tactics work well, others do not and can cause more harm than good to an organization. The answer for many CIOs and their companies is to adopt Lean thinking and Agile software development practices in order to run their IT departments as an Agile portfolio. Three of the most important cost-cutting mistakes are covered here including adopting an offshore model or a "service bureau" model. Agile practices reflect modern best practices from manufacturing and management and help CIOs and their IT teams to align customers around measurable progress.

Four Key Forces for Today's Enterprise Content Management
Approximately 55 percent of large and medium-sized enterprises have embraced an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) as a core competency. According to InfoTrends' research, of those, 65% of large companies and 80% of medium-sized organizations are looking to a single ECM platform provider to fulfill their ECM strategy. InfoTrends' research clearly indicates most organizations are responding to the rising pressure of content related challenges by implementing an enterprise content management strategy, including finding cost-effective ways to create, manage, secure, and dispose of enterprise content as well as effectively and fully integrate that content into business processes across the organization. There are four key forces that are driving organizations to adopt a strategic, enterprise-level approach to planning and deploying content systems, each of which must be completely understood.

A Simple Way to Get Cloud-Connected
A cloud-connected future is being driven by the need for organizations of all sizes to most effectively manage and safeguard data in a distributed environment. The flexibility of a cloud-connected approach also lets you determine the ideal mixture of capital and operational expenditures. Is your organization's infrastructure ready to move beyond legacy technologies? Then now may be the time to consider the dramatic benefits provided by a new generation of secure, efficient, and affordable cloud-connected data protection solutions. While not every vendor's cloud implementation is uniformly terrific, today's state-of-the-art technology enables the cloud to handily meet the demands of most organizations.

What You Must Know to Avoid Defrag Myths
Fragmentation accounts for billions of dollars in lost revenue and production and is one of the leading causes of a wide range of common computer problems, system failures, and early hard disk replacements. Estimates are that there are over 700 million PCs actively in use in the world today, and each has fragmentation issues to one degree or another, because fragmentation is an unavoidable byproduct of all Windows operating systems. Know the six most common myths surrounding defragmentation and avoid falling into the defrag trap that are basically misunderstood by many users.
