CENSORSHIP
There have been no broadcast TV images of the dead from the downed Malaysia Airlines plane in Ukraine, and photographs have been pixelated. It's weird to dwell on this horror and then profess ourselves too squeamish to see its bloody repercussions, writes Tim Teeman. Why shouldn't Putin and the world see the horrendous, human carnage?
WON'T STOP

Israel shot down rumors of another ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza on Tuesday, telling a United Nations envoy that it rejected the proposal. A Hamas spokesperson said earlier that they would agree to a temporary pause in fighting, "but not to a long-term truce." Overnight, Israeli forces hit more than 100 targets in eastern Gaza, including Al Jazeera claims, its offices. The death toll since ground operations began last week is now up to 130 Palestinians and 27 Israeli soldiers.

UNDER PRESSURE
Religious extremists are threatening to kill the members of one of the few Iraqi organizations dedicated to helping women and gays. Jacob Siegel reports from Baghdad, where activists working with disenfranchised groups are under increasing danger from powerful militias.
NEW TOYS

The iFrenzy is almost upon us. Apple has reportedly filed its largest-ever order of new iPhones, between 70 to 80 million units. Production is rumored to start in August for two models, a 4.7-inch screen and a 5.5-inch screen. For last year's 5S and 5C release, Apple ordered between 50 and 60 million units, and struggled with shortages and long waiting lists. The upcoming phone, expected to be called the iPhone 6, could have a rounder body, tougher screen, better camera, and built-in barometer.

GAG
It's not just fast-food joints—your coffee shop isn't safe either. China's investigation of a meat supplier called Husi Food Co. spread to Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Burger King, after the country's FDA sealed factories for inspection on charges of selling expired beef and chicken on Monday. The scandal also hit Japan, where McDonald's said 20 percent of its meat for chicken nuggets came from the company. A Chinese broadcaster has accused Husi of repackaging expired meat with new dates, a report which Husi said it was "appalled by."
