SNIFF, SNIFF
Philadelphia prosecutors this week broke up a drug ring that penetrated at least eight elite high schools and colleges. Law enforcement made 25-year-old Neil Scott and 10 other defendants out to be WASPy Walter Whites. But Christopher Moraff reports the criminal complaint looks more like the schemes of a bunch of alleged potheads.
HERE WE GO

One of the biggest expansions of gun rights was signed into law Wednesday by Republican Gov. Nathan Deal of Georgia. Dubbed by critics as the "guns everywhere" bill, it will now allow Georgians to carry firearms in schools, bars, churches, and government buildings. The NRA has called it "the most comprehensive pro-gun reform bill in state history," and even achieved bipartisan support. Deal did argue that the bill was not as expansive as it originally was, emphasizing the change for religious leaders to opt-in to allowing guns, whereas the original bill required them to permit firearms. "There are always opportunities for people to use any piece of legislation as a political tool if they don't like it. But there was bipartisan support for the bill. The main story that should come out of it is the final product is significantly different from earlier versions," said Deal.

PAY THE PRICE

The Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision Wednesday that people who watch child pornography can be sued. Victims of child pornography may claim compensation from anyone found with the illegal images of them. The Supreme Court rejected, however, a $3.4 million verdict against a Texas man who was found to have possessed images of a woman's rape at a young age. Still, possessors of child porn must pay some restitution. "It makes sense to spread the payment among a larger number of offenders in amounts more closely in proportion to their respective causal roles and their own circumstances," said Justice Anthony Kennedy.

KONNICHIWA
Rising tensions between Japan and its neighbors, most notably China and South Korea, have turned the plum job of ambassador to Japan fro Caroline Kennedy into one of the most crucial on the planet, Kyle Mizokami writes. With President Obama's arrival in Tokyo on Wednesday shining the spotlight on the region and the U.S. "Pacific Pivot," will Kennedy be up to the task?
SMELL YA LATER
The U.S. health-care system's focus on managing, not curing, chronic disease leaves a lot to be desired, says Daniela Drake. One woman's story, Dr. Terry Wahls, who was chief of primary care at the Iowa VA Medical Center, is exposing that systemic weakness, after her modified Paleo diet helped her multiple sclerosis. Her story shows not all prescriptions make you well.
