Cheat Sheet - The Secret Pope Francis Haters

Cheat Sheet: Afternoon

March 11, 2014
POPE-A-RAZZI
No one can dispute the fact that Jorge Mario Bergoglio has had an extraordinary year since being elected to lead the Catholic Church last March, but even he's not infallible in the eyes of critics. Barbie Latza Nadeau reports on the conservatives who think he's too kind to gays and the liberals who think he's too soft on sex-abuse cases.
LIPSTICK ON A PIG
Since 2006, a New York-based public relations firm has charged the Kremlin millions for advice on improving Moscow's image in the West. Now, as Russia's reputation reaches its lowest point since the Cold War, one former employee tells Eli Lake that the country never listened to his advice.
NO ANSWERS

The Malaysian military says it has radar data indicating Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 changed course and made it to the Malacca Strait, which is hundreds of miles from the last position recorded by civilian authorities. At 2:40 a.m. local time, the plane was reported to be detected at the strait, which is a busy waterway. Authorities have also confirmed that both of the Iranians on the plane with stolen passports did not have terrorist links. "The more information we get, the more we are inclined to conclude it is not a terrorist incident," said Ronald Noble, secretary general of Interpol. There is still no trace of the flight carrying 239 passengers that disappeared Friday.

CROSSED THE LINE

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, attacked the CIA on Tuesday for spying on her panel's congressional network. She claims the agency improperly searched the committee's computers and that in doing so, it was violating federal law and the Constitution. She added that an internal investigation of the CIA's action has been referred to the Department of Justice. Feinstein said she has written to CIA Director John Brennan, but "the CIA has not provided answers to any of my questions."

HOT DOG!

An Alaskan native won the Iditarod sled dog race on Tuesday for the second year and with a record-breaking time. Dallas Seavey came back from third place to finish the famous Alaskan race in eight days, 13 hours, 4 minutes, and 19 seconds. The previous record was eight days, 18 hours and 46 minutes. In 2012, Seavey became the youngest Iditarod champion at the age of 25. The race in his blood, as his grandfather, Dan Seavey, helped organize the first Iditarod in 1973. Seavey makes prepping for the Iditarod a year-round event, saying "I don't leave my training compound if I can help it. If I leave, it's by dog team, not by vehicle."
