WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A few faint glimmers of hope surfaced on Monday in the U.S. fiscal standoff, both in Congress and at the White House, with President Barack Obama saying he would accept a short-term increase in the nation's borrowing authority to avoid a default.
Boston school bus drivers walk off job; city calls move 'illegal'
BOSTON (Reuters) - Boston school students woke up on Tuesday to learn that most city school buses were not running due to what city officials described as an "illegal" strike by bus drivers who transport about 33,000 students each day.
