UPRISING

Hundreds of people have been hospitalized in Istanbul after massive demonstrations to stop the demolition of a local park transformed into a broad push against the government. Although the police have began to back down, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has not. "If you gather 200,000 people, I can gather a million more," he warned the rioters in a televised address. Mike Giglio reports from Turkey. Plus, see exclusive photos.

BIBLICAL

Five people are dead and 50 more injured as tornadoes and floods continue to batter the storm-ravaged state of Oklahoma. Several tornadoes struck Friday evening, knocking over cars in the middle of rush hour traffic and leaving drivers stranded on the highway. With the tornadoes came rain and hail, flooding Oklahoma City under four feet of water with flash flooding expected to continue throughout the state. Among those killed were a mother and child whose car rolled over on the state's I-40 interstate highway.

FEAR-MONGERING

The New York Times magazine has been catching a lot of flak for its 'Lives' piece about a near-death experience—for good reason, says Clive Irving. It wasn't a near-death experience.

'UNTHINKABLE' GRIEF

Oscar Pistorius is bearded and heartbroken, his Uncle Arnold told CNN. The double-amputee Olympic sprinter has been staying with his Uncle Arnold for the past three months since he was charged with murdering his girlfriend, hiding from society, and surrounding himself with pictures of her. "What can you say if the person you love the most dies, and you were the instrument?" asked Arnold. "How would you feel? It's unthinkable." Pistorius will appear in court, Tuesday, to hear a motion to further postpone his trial—which at this point might not happen until 2014—for more investigation.

Ricin certainly brings out the worst in people. A Texas woman has reported her husband to investigators, saying he might have sent the ricin-laced letters to President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg, and the mayor's Washington gun control group. The woman's husband has refuted the allegations, saying he was set up by his wife. Sources say the letter to Bloomberg ranted about the right to bear arms and threatened, "What's in this letter is nothing compared to what I've got planned for you." But Bloomberg is unfazed, saying Wednesday that he's "not going to walk away from those efforts."
