SABOTAGE

The House GOP rump is once again running the show, leaving John Boehner scrambling and donors increasingly exasperated. The Daily Beast's Eleanor Clift on how the far right is derailing Republican reform efforts.

STEP ONE

The U.S. government has filed espionage charges against NSA leaker Edward Snowden, but that's just the beginning of what promises to be a very drawn-out process. The charges are just the first step in the government's attempt to extradite Snowden from Hong Kong, where he is currently in hiding. Although a newspaper there claimed he is under police protection, territorial authorities have declined to comment. Snowden has been charged with theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information and willful communication of classified communication intelligence to an unauthorized person. Under the Espionage Act, the last two charges could mean fines and up to 10 years in prison.

TWILIGHT

The late Brooke Astor's presence hung over the courtroom as her 89-year-old son made his final appearance before heading to prison. The Daily Beast's Michael Daly reports.

SYRIA BEARS ARMS

What goes around comes around—just not always in the ways you'd expect. Syrian rebels are being supplied with weapons in a multinational aid effort largely funded by Qatar. But in a crazy plot twist, the weapons originated with Muammar Gaddafi's totalitarian government in Libya. At the height of his power, Gaddafi kept stockpiles of arms to send to people fighting governments he didn't like. But in post-Gaddafi Libya the tables have turned, and now the very rebels who ousted the late dictator are using his weapons to help efforts he would have loathed. Talk about revenge.

CAN I HAVE YO NUMBAH?

Oops. On Friday, Facebook revealed they fixed a bug that had accidentally given out contact information for six million of its users. When using the social network's DYI (download your information) tool, the email addresses and phone numbers of friends were being downloaded. "We currently have no evidence that this bug has been exploited maliciously and we have not received complaints from users or seen anomalous behavior on the tool or site to suggest wrongdoing," Facebook said in response to the bug, which was fixed within 24 hours, but had apparently been live since 2012.

Twitter Slams Kimye Baby North West

''That kid has no direction.'—a high school guidance counselor in 2031 about North West.' That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to amazing online reactions to the name of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's baby, which is unusual at best, society-destroying at worst.
