Clashes feared as rival demonstrators gather in Cairo
Thousands of Egyptians have begun gathering on the streets of Cairo ahead of planned rival demonstrations over an upcoming constitutional referendum. There are fears that the rallies could end in violence.

France says Mali mission more urgent after PM resignation
Former colonial power France was the first in Europe to react to the overnight arrest of Mali's prime minister by the military. The foreign ministry said it showed the need for "rapid deployment" of African Union troops.
Germany
Police looking for suspects after bomb found at train station
German police are looking for at least one man suspected of leaving a bomb on a platform at Bonn's main train station. They have not confirmed reports that at least one arrest has been made.
Syria
Syrian refugees number more than half a million
More than half a million Syrian refugees are registered or are waiting to be registered in the Middle East and North Africa, the UN has said. There are also estimated to be large numbers of refugees still undocumented.

Cayman islands leader arrested
The head of the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean has been detained by police on allegations of corruption. The Cayman islands is well-known for its offshore financial facilities.

HSBC settles in US money laundering probe
HSBC has agreed to pay $1.92 billion to settle a US money laundering probe. The British bank is alleged to have allowed clients with links to drug trafficking and terrorism to move money.

Facebook thumbs down democracy
Amid resistance to proposed changes to user and privacy settings, social media behemoth Facebook offered up a vote. More than half a million said "no thanks," but the company would only have listened to 300 million.

Lufthansa cabin staff accepts pay deal
A fierce wage dispute at German carrier Lufthansa has finally come to an end as cabin crews agreed to a wage deal brokered by an arbiter. The flight attendants accepted a lower pay raise in exchange for job guarantees.
