Teardown Reveals FBI GPS Auto-Tracker Secrets
In recent years, several motorists found entirely by chance that FBI agents had secretly installed GPS devices underneath their vehicles that were capable of constantly tracking a vehicle's location. Wired managed to get its hands on a tracker used by the FBI six years ago and turned it over to the teardown artists at iFixit, who disassembled the device. Microsoft and the DOJ: The End of an Era
Microsoft's long-running legal dance with the Department of Justice has come to an end. The DOJ's 10-year antitrust judgment against the software giant, which was the result of a lawsuit in 1998 over Microsoft's bundling of IE with Windows, expired May 12. The DOJ said it was an epic victory for consumers; Microsoft was less effuse.

Bill Would Let Government Shut Down Piracy Websites
A bill making the rounds in the Senate would enable the government to shut down piracy sites. PROTECT IP is a new version of the controversial COICA bill that was killed last year. Under PROTECT IP, the government could get court orders to require ISPs, search engines and ad networks to stop supporting sites with pirated content.
