Tsunami Hits Japan After 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake

March 11, 2011 the earthquake hits the northeastern shore was the biggest recorded quake ever to hit Japan. It said to be fifth-largest earthquake in the world since 1900 and was nearly 8,000 times stronger than one that devastated Christchurch, New Zealand, last month according to scientists.
